Presentations

>>Did you know a "majestic" Lion can get chased up a tree by a "cowardly" Hyena?

>>How on earth do Elephants living in the vastness of the Namib desert survive without water?

>>How can one animal's instinctive habits make the difference in the lives of other animals?

>>In the African Bush does a game ranger truly always know the best way home?

Son Safaris presentations takes these and other questions and themes from my unique experiences in Africa and imbues them with life and significance to Jesus followers and seekers alike.

The Son Safaris concept originated when, as a new Christian, I began to see parallels between my life as a Game Ranger in Africa and my new life in Christ.  I thought I knew everything there was was to know after I qualified as a ranger at one of the most exclusive lodges in Southern Africa.  But I soon learned that a ranger can only learn so much from books.

So I worked hard to learn the lessons of  the "wilderness classroom" and the animals that inhabit it. I became a good Ranger and arrogantly thought I always knew best until I was teamed up with my Tracker.  Working with this native of the Bush quickly showed me how little I really knew and how much I needed others to guide and show me the best way to navigate the many perils the bush experience bestows.

As a Christian the parallels between my walk with the Lord and being on safari surprised me.  As I remembered my experiences as a Ranger, both the things I did right and wrong, I couldn't shake the feeling that God wanted to use that time of my life to help me and others be better Jesus followers.

But when the concept of Son Safaris as a ministry came as a means of sharing my unique perspective I was sure I would soon run out of ideas even though I had over seven years of experience as a Game Ranger to pull from. I brought this to the Lord in prayer and He showed me that I am indeed limited but that He is unlimited!

Son Safaris began with my experience as a ranger, but the Lord has shown me that the whole world of animals and their interactions can be used to glorify Him.  After all, why not, He did create all animals not just the ones I have encountered!  The fear I had of "running out of material" was just one of  the Enemies ploys to stop me from sharing the gospel.

Son Safaris presentations can fit almost any situation from a one time event (such as a class, or church service) to a themed weekend (such as a retreat or conference) to a full week (such as VBS or week at a Christian camp). I have even had the opportunity to speak in school classrooms by just sharing the knowledge of wildlife with inquisitive students. There are infinite possibilities for God to communicate through His creation.  The mission of Son Safaris is to facilitate that communication!
