Son Safaris Dream
“I was sitting around the fire at a VBS in the summer of 2009 just as I had done for the last 5 years.
I had been speaking every evening to a middle school audience as I have done many times before, and it was on the final night as we gathered around the fire for worship and sharing that I was sitting behind the kids as they worshipped, and I remember just staring into the magnificent fire in front of us under the trees and stars of that evening, listening to the night sounds, guitars, and these inspired kids.
The Lord spoke to my heart then and I was made aware of a dream. The question was “why can’t we have this, this week of worship and growth, around a fire at a lodge…..IN AFRICA?
Where the same idea of vacation Bible school, Son Safaris, hearing God’s Word, all while being in Africa, on safari, and around a fire to be surrounded by God’s creation?”
Then it dawned on me, “why not?”
I remember Sean Paul walking past me at this time and I shared this vision with him. His reply was that the Lord was speaking to me and I was dreaming really big.
This is a God sized dream and there is no way it will come about without His help.
So my initial dream was to have a self sustaining lodge, in Africa, possibly in the Okavango delta, Botswana where it is run as a Christian Safari lodge, with the emphasis of experiencing great daily safaris in God’s creation, having a Sunday service staff/guests and nightly worship.
Also with enough funding to have the less fortunate kids go out to Africa, to the lodge and spend a VBS week with Son Safaris.
The dream has progressed: Lodges are usually staffed from the local or surrounding villages.
The lodge would then also be a base for missions into a village or villages with the emphasis of showing God’s love and glory through individuals or groups pouring their time into these people through:
all conducted through Son Safaris.
This mission could consist of individuals donating there time for a week, a month, a year or more to help build up this community.
This mission will not be complete in one year or two, but will allow generation after generation to contribute to glorify God. A vision that Tim Hudson ( A Christian, incredible mentor, and Son Safaris Board Member) has had for while: taking on a village in Africa that will take years to impact and complete.
The plan will be to get huge, successful corporations involved to help fund such a project.

We will work on a strategy to fulfill this God size dream.
