I was in awe as I finished placing an astronomy project on the wall as the entourage of royalty walked by. And I mean ROYALTY - the King and Queen of Norway- along with the Lady in waiting and two plain clothed body guards were guests at the lodge where I was a ranger.
“Good afternoon. How are you today?” was the greeting from the King himself. I respectfully answered and off they went to prepare for their evening safari. It was quite humbling not only to be in their presence, but for the king to actually take time out of his day to say hello to me! Wow, what an experience. I had the chance to speak directly to the king, and for one brief moment, we were on the same level as two human beings exchanging pleasantries.
The Green Peacock is one of God’s magnificent creations where we can see the shift from royalty to ordinary.
With incredible brilliance, the male peacock woos its mates with a fantastic display of feathery beauty.
This wardrobe fit for a king is soon shed and the Green Peacock loses its appearance of royalty.
After breeding season, the male molts, resulting in the appearance of the two sexes being even more similar. When the male peacock sheds its royal plumage, it looks just like a common bird.
Who on earth would choose to step down from royalty and become a commoner?
Jesus! He stepped down from His throne of spectacular, untarnished, and perfect glory to become one of us. Jesus shed His heavenly appearance when He became a man - God on earth. This is just one of the many sacrifices Jesus made to show His unconditional love for us.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
As Jesus stepped down from Heaven to live among men, He brought the ultimate gift to humanity - the opportunity to be right with our perfect God. Through His death on the cross as a criminal, burial in another man’s tomb, and His miraculous resurrection, Jesus traded His royal robes for blood-stained rags. Thank you God for Your Son Jesus!
Respond in prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, yet You left Your throne to enter our world so that we may live with You forever! Today I am so thankful for Your Son Jesus and His death on the cross as a man to cover all my sins so that I may have a relationship with You. Amen.
