where God communicates through His creation

What do you mean I have to wait?

We live in a world of instant gratification. Acquired a new cell phone lately? In just one or two clicks it’s ready to stream music, send a text, or tweet your next selfie to the world. We also live in a world of positive results and focus on achievements where you may be looking for a new job if you don’t live up to these standards. Unfortunately, we take the urge for instant gratification into our relationship with the Lord, where waiting patiently may be more beneficial for us. Do you think waiting for a few minutes for your next latte may seem like eternity then perhaps we can learn a few things about waiting from today’s amazing little creature living in the Arctic.

The Arctic Wooly Bear Moth (AWBM) gets WAY too cold for its own habitat and spends most of it life FROZEN SOLID.

It also spends about SEVEN YEARS trying to take in the nutrients to allow it to finally pupate into an adult moth. As a resident of the arctic with its below frigid temperatures, the moth is frequently inactive.

In order to become active again, it needs to reach a warm enough temperature for the chemical processes in its cells to enable it to move around and feed. This happens when temperatures get to 15°C-30°C. But these temperatures are rare for the majority of the year, so most of the time it just sits and waits in a frozen state. The frozen state of the caterpillar allows it to live long enough to thaw out when it can and eventually turn into a moth.

God’s timing in our lives is perfect and we need to be able to wait on Him during the “winters” of our life. Perhaps you need to put a hold on a relationship, or freeze your financial or career decisions for a while. Maybe God wants you to wait a little longer. But what if God is waiting on you? What if the Heavenly Father is patiently waiting for you to open your heart to Him and accept His grace and forgiveness in your life? What if He is waiting on you to believe in Him with your whole heart to the point that you’re transformed by His hold on your heart?

Isaiah 30:18

“So the Lord must wait for you to come to him

so he can show you his love and compassion.

For the Lord is a faithful God.

Blessed are those who wait for his help.”

If you feel like you’re waiting on God to change you or show you where He wants you to go next consider the idea that perhaps He is just waiting on you to choose Him fully in your life and all you need to do is ask for His help.

Have patience like the AWBM. Sit where God has you, take in what you need to, and God will provide for you in His perfect time.

OR

Don’t make God wait any longer. Come to Him ready to be transformed today!

Responding in Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father, I come to you today to meet you where you are. This means me understanding that you may be trying to show me something I have been waiting for. Forgive me LORD, as at times, I expect you to be a ‘wish granter’, and answer my requests in an instant. Please give me the patience to know you have the absolute best in mind for me. Please guard my heart with understanding your timing may not happen now, but be done for your glory when you deem it necessary. Thank you for loving me.

AMEN.
