Entertainment is filled with make believe stories of mythical creatures with magical powers. Books, TV shows, movies, and video games whisk us away to worlds where the unimaginable becomes reality. The world of technology has changed the way fans see their favorite characters brought to life.
CGI breathes into life fantastic creatures from unicorns to dragons that amaze audiences with their abilities and life-like qualities. Though they seem to be so real you could reach out and touch their scaly skin or feel the warmth of their breath on your neck, they are still life-less works of fiction.
Despite a life in the world of make-believe, the myth of the unicorn has transcended the real animal kingdom through the amazingly gifted Narwhal.
The Narwhal is an animal pulled straight from legend. These bizarre animals have two teeth. In males, the more prominent tooth grows into a sword-like spiral tusk up to 8.8 feet (2.7 meters) long; hence why this beautiful sea creature is often called the Unicorn of the Sea.
Scientists are not certain of the tusk's purpose despite years of research into their lives.
God created the unique Narwhal, but storytellers imagined the unicorn.
Unlike the unicorn, Jesus Christ is, was, and will always be REAL!.
Whether you refer to history and the timeline as AD or CE the fact remains the birth of Jesus Christ changed the timeline as we know it.
There are many accounts of Jesus' life on earth recorded through history in the New Testament of the Bible. The accounts of people who walked and talked with Jesus.
Matthew was called by Jesus. And Matthew ate with Jesus.
Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came. They ate with Jesus and his disciples.
John the baptist is recorded in the Book of John exclaiming who Jesus is:
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I was talking about. I said, ‘A man who comes after me is more important than I am. That’s because he existed before I was born.’
I did not know him. But God wants to make it clear to Israel who this person is.
A Roman commander is recorded in the book written by Luke witnessing Jesus’ last breath on the cross of humiliation, mutilation and death.
The Roman commander saw what had happened. He praised God and said, “Jesus was surely a man who did what was right.” The people had gathered to watch this sight. When they saw what happened, they felt very sad. Then they went away.
The resurrection of Jesus is also recorded in the book written by Mark when the women went to re-embalm an already buried Jesus. Someone they had talked with and seen die.
Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. The stone was very large. They entered the tomb. As they did, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe. He was sitting on the right side. They were alarmed.
“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. But he has risen! He is not here!
Fiction surrounds us on a daily basis and we are entertained by it.
The truth and accounts of Jesus’ life is far from fiction and have survived millennia.
Yes little boys still love Jedi knights and little girls still love unicorns.
The recorded life of Christ is real, the unconditional Love and Grace of Jesus Christ is real, and the fact that He died for us on the cross for our sins is certainly not fiction.
Responding in Prayer
Gracious Father in Heaven, thank you for being real in my life. Thank you for sending your one and only son as a sacrifice for my sin. Thank you for recording all these events for us to reflect on and understand the love you have for all of us. Thank you for Jesus, who shows us what it means to have true love for broken people, and the truthful account of His love continues to shine through us and our relationship with Him and those around us. Amen
